Club Irida News Story Photo

14th Nov 2006 - Leap Frog in control at stunning new club in Crete

The spectacular €2,500,000 IRIDA complex in Iraiko City, Crete opened this summer as one of the islands most dynamic entertainment venues. Spread across 3 levels it plays host to a variety of cultural, social and live music performances.

Zero 88’s Greek distributor Bon Studio supplied the entire sound and lighting system, which was installed by Crete based company Sound Level Ltd

The venue’s lighting consisted of a mixture of over 180 architectural and entertainment fittings from Griven, Selecon, Futurelight, Eurolight and Work all controlled with a Zero 88 Leap Frog console.

The Leap Frog features full 2 preset manual control of up to 48 channels and a comprehensive memory operation. A theatre-style memory stack capable of storing a maximum of 400 cues along with the flexibility of 240 submasters provides both structured operation and the ability to 'busk' a show as required.

The Leap Frog can control up to 24 moving lights making it ideal for all the lighting applications at the club and allowing even relatively inexperienced operators to create exciting shows. With the large variety of events being staged at the club, choosing an easy to use yet flexible console to service their differing control requirements was crucial.

The Leap Frog features an advanced movement effects engine for simple and rapid programming of commonly used effects, shapes and fans whilst an inbuilt fixture library enables simple selection and manipulation of the moving lights. Colour, beam, position and group palettes canal be created.

Parameter level partial recording allows the user to select which LTP parameters are recorded into a palette, memory, or a submaster for extremely versatile playback.

“The Leap Frog was chosen as it easily met the requirements of the lighting system and represented excellent value for money compared to alternative consoles” explains Ms Bofiliaki of Bon Studio.

The complex includes a stage / dance floor, a swimming pool, an open café bar, space for up to 500 people under bespoke polycarbonate covers and a 13m high tent, a 300 capacity hall as well as a kitchen, crèche and technical room.

The sound installation included a variety of speakers from JBL, amplifiers from Crown, a sound console from Soundcraft, processors from DBX, BSS and Lexicon and microphones from AKG.
