17th Nov 2008 - Frog 2 in control on latest TV quiz format.
Zero 88’s Frog 2 Lighting console has been chosen to control the set lighting for the Maltese version of the latest TV phenomenon ‘Divided’
Produced by Watermelon Media & Communications, Malta is one of the first countries to have the programme produced locally.
Divided this season’s hottest TV shows and is one of the fastest selling new TV game show formats in Europe. Three contestants, unknown to each other, join forces to win a prize fund of up to €80,000 per programme.
The lighting set for the Maltese production consists of Selecon Pacific profiles, Selecon Luy cyc, Desisti fresnels as well as DTS Fos 100 and Fos 33 LED bars - all controlled from a Zero 88 Frog 2 lighting console. Dimming was provided in the form of the in-house 48 channel modular LTC dimmer also from Zero 88.
The Frog 2’s remote switches we used to automatically cue the numerous colour moods that had to change during the program.
Lighting designer and programmer Ismael Portelli commented “The Frog was really fast to program and it was really easy to assign the remote switches. The remote switches were triggered from custom built software which also triggers audio effects and computer graphics for the different moods required during the game show.”
The use of the remote switches was a key factor in choosing the Frog 2 as it meant that a desk operator was not required at the studio during all of the long hours of filming. Once the Frog 2 was programmed, playback of the different lighting sets is managed by the production company.
Divided is developed by the Dutch company Talpa BV and distributed by Endemol International, format owners of worldwide programmes such as Big Brother, Deal or No Deal and Fear Factor.
