27th Aug 2005 - Highpoint Church upgrades their lighting console with a Frog 2.

Highpoint Church in Memphis, Tennessee, has upgraded their lighting system to include the new Frog 2 Console from Zero 88.
Highpoint's contemporary worship services are held at Briarcrest Christian School, in East Memphis and features worship leader Doug Pierce and a band made up of professional-level musicians. Each Sunday morning and Tuesday afternoon, Highpoint Church essentially mounts a concert as part of their worship services complete with lighting worthy of a rock show. With 18 automated fixtures and over 40 conventional fixtures being controlled by volunteers on a regular basis, the staff at the church felt they needed a special kind of lighting console.
I needed something that was easy to teach and was not too complicated, said Highpoint Church's lighting technician, Ryan Stone. We compared different boards, but it was really the user-definable faders, which was something I was looking for, that sold us on the Frog 2. The Frog 2 console has 2000 buttons and 1000 faders that are user-definable and can be assigned to control a channel, a group of fixtures, a memory, or anything in between.
With the user definable-faders, I can basically run entire shows just using a page of faders, remarked Stone, and that was something that really turned me on to the board. I also like the user interface I'm extremely pleased with how it works. Apart from user-configurable displays, two external monitors, CD writer and USB memory storage, the Frog 2 also boasts a friendly and easy to learn programming syntax.
The Frog 2 was previewed at last year's PLASA show and officially launched in February of this year. Boasting 2,048 DMX channels, multiple playbacks, comprehensive palettes, definable macros and an effects library, the Frog 2 has built upon the reputation of the extremely popular Frog range of consoles. The addition of the Frog 2 to the Frog range of consoles means that there is now a Frog console to control almost any size of show including some of the biggest. The installation at Highpoint Church marks the first installation of a Frog 2 in a church in the US.
As the Zero 88 distributor for North America, A.C.T Lighting, Inc. has been a constant presence during the installation of and adjustment period for the Frog 2 at Highpoint. A.C.T has been great, notes Stone. They speak to me on a daily basis, and we've even had one of their guys out here. With a constant dialog established between Highpoint and A.C.T Lighting that generates new ideas and suggestions, Stone believes that the Frog 2 is a worthy successor to the original Frog range. Give it a few months, remarks Stone, and then I think everyone will see that this is the nicest board for the money out there.
