23rd Aug 2006 - Luxembourg Venue Rocks
For a long time the large area around Luxembourg - Saarland - Lorraine has lacked one thing, a multifunctional hall designed primarily for music events and concerts. With its technical, acoustic and logistic facilities the 'Rockhal' fills this hole catering for any show from international artists to local music events.
The opening concert featured 'The Prodigy' and 'Korn' attracting sell out audiences. Since this opening many acts have featured at the 'Rockhal' including Simply Red, Michael Bublé, Duran Duran, Clawfinger, Soulfly, Fish, Marillion and Chris Rea. Apart from live performances ‘Rockhal’ was also the venue for the MTV produced iDance.
The ‘Rockhal’ has two venues, the Club Hall which holds up to 1200, and the Main Hall which can accommodate 6,500 people. There are also six extra rooms for rehearsals, a ballroom and a recording studio. A unique feature is a multimedia library with an info service providing information about the music industry, bands, promotion companies, agents and management companies.
The consultant for the lighting system was Christian Müller from Showtrade. Together with the lighting supplier, LMP Lichttechnik from Germany, the ‘Rockhal’ has been provided with the latest lighting technology for any event.
Christian and LMP specified 1 x 48 way Spice Touring Rack and 2 x 24 way Spice Touring Racks. Control is provided by a Leap Frog. Beside a wide range of generic features LMP supplied 12 x Color Spot 575E AT and 12 x Color Wash 575E AT Moving lights from Robe.
