
25th Jun 2001 - Bill Clinton speaks at the Hay on Wye festival, Zero 88 provides the lighting control.
The quiet town of Hay on Wye recently played host to a literary event which attracts over 60,000 visitors. The Sunday Times Sponsored Hay on Wye Festival sees over a period of 11 days, 210 events held in 3 venues. Visitors attend to listen to a host of celebrities ranging from Kate Adie and Germaine Greer to Melvyn Bragg and Louis de Bernieres.
However one of this years celebrities caused quite a buzz in the town that has become accustomed to famous celebrities over the years. The ex-president of the USA, Bill Clinton attended the festival to deliver his key note address entitled `Conflict Resolution.`
Little did Mr Clinton know, but the lighting for his address on World Peace was controlled by a frog!.
Paul Elkington of Theatre Vision has been the technical director for the festival for the past 14 years. He chose Zero 88’s new Fat Frog desk to control his rig of Martin Mac 250’s, Par Cans and theatre luminaries.
Paul stated “I chose the Fat Frog as it was perfect for this type of event. It can be programmed to control conventional and moving lights quickly and easily. It is very much a hands on desk which enables you to easily adapt your shows.”
