30th Jun 2001 - Dealer News from Zero 88
General News
The first half of the year has seen the successful launch of the Frog & Fat Frog. Our appearance at all the major tradeshows this year has ensured all members of the global lighting community have been able to get their hands on our new amphibian family!
The next 6 months will also see some exciting new developments! In this issue you will learn about our rapidly growing operations and get some hints about what is in the pipeline for PLASA. So watch this space for further details as they become available!
We’re Expanding!
As promised in last months dealer update, we have not one, not two but three new faces joining our Sales/Marketing team.
Catherine Thomas will be joining the company on the 16th July as Sales Coordinator. She joins us from Allied Steel and Wire and brings with her a wealth of sales and logistics experience, as well as being fluent in French. Following some intensive training she will become your main point of contact for Zero 88. She will also take over from Lorna as Selecon’s sales support as Lorna focuses on her new role in UK sales.
As we continue to develop our operations in Europe we are pleased to announce two new additions to our field sales team.
Franck Tiesing will be joining us on the 1st July as German Market Manager. Franck joins us from LMP Lichttechnik in Ibbenbüren, where he has been responsible for Zero 88 products for the past 4 years. He will be based in Germany and be responsible for
managing our German operations and supporting both our network of dealers and end users.
Silvio Scerri joins the team with the brief of developing our Mediterranean markets.
Silvio is a partner in Nexos Lighting, Zero 88’s Maltese distributor and has extensive knowledge of the lighting market in Southern Europe. Silvio speaks a number of regional languages and will put his Italian to good use, as he initially focuses on Italy.
Accounts Department
Continuing our theme this month of introducing new faces, our accounts department have increased their numbers with the addition of a new accounts administrator – Amanda Grant. Amanda is following a family tradition in joining Zero 88 as her mother (Tina) works in our R&D
Department, and her father (Bill) works in the warehouse!
In House Training
To ensure that we offer consistent service to our customers we have undertaken an internal training programme. This process will ensure that a number of staff are trained on our sales order process system, enabling us to provide our usual levels of service, even when core staff are unavailable. Some of you may have already spoken to Rob James – he will be in sales until mid July when he will return to the accounts department. Additional members of staff will also undertake this training over the next few months.
Frog & Fat Frog
In our April update, we pledged to make improving delivery schedules our top priority. We subsequently increased our production capacity and as a result we are back on track with shipping products.
Therefore please keep up the good work and keep the orders rolling in!
Talking of orders – A C Lighting Inc in America has just placed an order for 48 Fat Frogs. Would anyone care to beat this?
Fat Frog Receives Rave Reviews in America
Just 40 minutes was all that was needed to inspire Kenny Kirkaldy and Jesse Henke of Burning Retina Lighting in Arizona to write their review of the Fat Frog and post it on The LightNetwork!
Having seen the desk as part of a joint effort between Zero 88 and AC Lighting Inc to introduce the Fat Frog to the American market, Kenny was immediately hooked.
He wrote – “What these guys have done is gone out with a pioneering attitude of filling a niche in the market instead of trying to create the next latest and greatest console, it is very specific in its application it is aimed at smaller shows with 12 automated fixtures of your choice (great library for a new console, very good selection of fixtures for an new os release) and 48 desk channels. I don’t see how they won’t sell thousands of them and win several best new product awards in the process.”

PLASA
We will officially launch our Bull Frog at PLASA. Based on the Fat Frog, this version will boast 96 dimmer channels, control of up to 24 moving lights and 2 DMX universes.
