23rd Apr 2002 - New control system in Jersey Arts Centre
The Benjamin Meaker Theatre at the Jersey Arts Centre has chosen to re-place its Strand Lightboard M and dimmers with a Zero 88 Chilli dimming system and Bullfrog.
The Arts Centre’s busy programme of professional productions, private & corporate lectures and varied selection of amateur performances requires a modern and flexible system. Playing host to the Jersey Eisteddfod for 3 weeks, along with their own promotions and productions, the arts centre represents a full cross-section of live performance in an intimate and versatile space.
Zero 88 dealer, Stage Electrics Exeter, specified 3 Chilli 24-10i and a Bullfrog desk to cope with the demands of the Arts Centre.
Steven Edwards, Stage Manager of the venue, wanted to be able to have a system that provided for their current needs but did not limit them to the ever-expanding requirements of the venue.
“We did not wish to lose our 72 channel status, or lose the ability to add more independent dimmers as required. The Dimmers were on recommendation from Saul Eagles of Stage Electrics, we needed something that would be easy to access for the locals users and have a good response, one advantage already put to use is the non-dim settings, which have saved much cable running. The breakers were also a consideration, and we are slowly recouping the money by not having to buy (or run out) of 10A fuses. The system is compatible with our current thinking and DMX, so visiting companies can simply download a show and soft patch channels. The desk also answers our need for moving light facilities so as not to limit ourselves in the future. The Bullfrog has managed to fulfil all of our requirements.”
"In the short time we have had the Bullfrog at the JAC we have found it very user friendly, designed by guys who have been out in the field and wondered 'Why cant I just have a button that does that instead of all these ones I don't need!' - well done Zero88 keep up the good work."
