Macro issue

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody,

I wanted to have some training this morning and the  problem is that i can't switch on the lamp of my Robe using the macro key dedicated to this task...

Everything is ok, power supply and dmx, the fixtures are switched on, i can drive them (pan, tilt), the cues they're involved in are running well, but...... i'ts impossible to make the macro keys working (lamp on, pan/tilt reset)...

I've tried with other rgbw fixtures and, for example, if i set a colour then an intensity, everything is ok but the macro key "colour reset" does nothing...

Any idea ?

under ZerOS 7.10

Hi Thierry,

Hope you're well.

Would you be able to let me know the model and mode of your Robe fixtures? I will then be able to take a look.

Hi Thierry,

I have looked at the Robe Robin 600e Spot in Mode 1. If you patch this fixture, and Automatically Create Macros, you will see a [Lamp On, Fixture Non Position Reset] macro. If you select your Robin 600e Spots and tap this, this will send a Lamp On command. According to the fixture's DMX map, you will need to set the "Shutter, Strobe, Control" parameter to 0, prior to activating the fixture macros...

If you have any questions, please let us know.

Hi Edward,

I've re-patched my Robe Robin600E, deleted all macros (colour, beamshape,...) and re-created all the Auto Macros.

The new "Macro" menu is different now, perhaps the first time i've patched my Robe with the wrong mode (2 or 3  instead of 1)

So far it seems to work, i' m gonna try to find the mistakes i could have made

Thanks for all

Thank you for the update, glad to hear the macros are now working. When the macros were not working, had you patched this fixture from the library, or had you been using this fixture loaded from an earlier show file? If you were using the fixture from a legacy show file, the fixture may have been using a different format, and so the macros may have been different.

All I've done before is to update the desk from 7.9 to 7.10, and I didn't tried to use the Robe since then.

Before the update everything was fine and my 4 Robe were in the correct "mode" which is "1".

Now that the desk is running 7.10, I had this issue with my "macro menu" being unabled to drive anything when hiting a key.

You tell me that having used the Robe from an earlier show file is causing the problem.

Does this mean that the 7.10 update includes library changes that affect my devices, so I'm forced to reset them using the new library (and I did)?

And is it normal that the "auto macro menu" is now different from the one I was using before?

To clarify, the fixture macros will only be different in ZerOS 7.10, if the personality for the Robe fixture you were using previously, was NOT from the ZerOS Library. If it was a custom fixture file, or a fixture from a legacy show file, this will be a different version of the Robe fixture personality, which will have slightly different macros.

If the fixture originated from the ZerOS Library, there shouldn't have been any change in fixture macro functionality.

Please feel free to send us a copy of your show file where the macros didn't seem to be working correctly, and we will take a look. Please email it to support@zero88.com

Hi Edward,

thank you for the quick answer by mail.

If i understand well, it means that the ZerOS 7.9.7 or earlier were using original library format for fixtures, and now with ZerOS 7.10 it is a specific ZerOS library format ?

And all that i find in "red" in the Fixture Schedule must be converted in this new format to work properly, or at least to avoid issues ?

And If so, is it written somewhere and did i miss something ?

A chance that i used the desk just for training, and realised at this moment the issue rather then in the middle of a real event.

In ZerOS 7.9.7 and earlier, ZerOS used the Zero 88 Global Fixture Library format, that was also used by many legacy Zero 88 consoles.

In ZerOS 7.9.8, we introduced the new ZerOS Library format, which includes far more fixtures, and more importantly far more detailed information about the fixtures. This has allowed us to implement features such as multicell, plus new features coming in the next software release, that we wouldn't have previously been able to implement.

Fixtures don't have to be converted, but it is recommended. Fixtures that used the "legacy" format can continue to be used in the same way. For example, the original version of the Robin 600e Spot can be downloaded from the link below...

https://zero88.com/fixtures/legacy-library/Legacy library (gft41.0)/ROBE/Robin 600E Spot.ift

This was described in the software release notes, and the ZerOS 7.9.8 introductory video...

Hope this helps,

Hi Edward,

Thank you, it's much more clear now.

But something i still don't understand is that when i was running 7.9.8 and 7.9.9 versions, i had no issues at all....

Does it mean that, during this period, my Robe were still in the old format, and were integrated in your new library with the new format with ZerOS 7.10, that would explain why i have the issue just now and not with the two previous versions after 7.9.7 ? (or perhaps i didn't use my Robe with 7.9.8 and 7.9.9, which can be a explaination too 😉 cause i don't use it often)

The Robin 600e Spots were available in the ZerOS Library format in ZerOS 7.9.8. You therefore could have converted the fixtures in your show file to the library equivalents, in ZerOS 7.9.8 or later.

Hi Edward,

thank you for all,

i've re-loaded ZerOS 7.10 and converted all my fixtures and re-created all Macros, everything seems to run fine, it's up to me now to refresh my mind by reading again the user manual and have a look at all your videos again

No problem at all. If you have any questions, as always just let us know.
