Channel Faders
Ensure that the MFFs (Multi-Functional Faders) are in channel mode by pressing the Fader Funct. button. When set to “Channels”, the MFFs directly control each fixture in the rig (this is often referred to as “Channel per Fader”). Each fixture, no matter what it is, will have a single “Channel Number”, and so will take up a single channel fader. The Page button(s) can be used to switch between channels (99 pages of 24 channels on FLX, two pages of 48 channels on FLX S48, and two pages of 24 channels on the FLX S24).
Channels can be adjusted by moving the appropriate fader. If a channel already has a level, for example being played back from a cue, then you must ‘grab’ the level by moving the fader up to the present value. Once that value is grabbed, the fader gains control.
As well as controlling intensity, moving a channel fader, will by default automatically select the fixture. Fixtures can also be selected manually using the channel buttons below the Multi-Function Faders. The Faders must be in “Channel” mode for this to work. When the channel is selected, the LED in the button under the fader will turn on. You can select multiple channels on the faders at the same time by pressing and holding the first button, and then tapping the last button.
An orange box will be drawn around selected channel numbers in the Output Window. You can also click on channel numbers in the Output Window to change the selection. Grey outline boxes in the Output Window show which set of channels are currently being controlled on the MFFs.
When your MFFs are controlling Channels rather than Playbacks, the Faders window will show you the names of the fixture's you are currently controlling, and their intensity percentages.
Multicell Fixture Control
Some fixtures, such as LED battens, or moving wash lights, have multiple light sources that can be controlled individually. When controlling these fixtures, you have the ability to select, and control the intensity, of each cell/segment/zone/pixel of the fixture individually.
This can be done using the channel buttons, by holding the Shift key, and clicking on a channel button. This will then select the first cell of this fixture. Each additional tap of the fixture's button with the Shift key held, will cycle you through each cell individually, until you get back to the first. To reselect the whole fixture, simply double tap the fixture's channel button, to deselect the cell, and then reselect the whole fixture.
The fixture's channel fader will always adjust the whole fixture, not individual cells. To adjust the intensity of an individual cell, the cell can be selected, and then the Intensity Wheel can be used.
On FLX S, the Output window will show you the currently selected cell, displayed as "fixture number . cell number".
On FLX, the Output Window will expand to show you all the available cells of the fixture.
