  1. Though I always preferred the zero88 way of programming (probably cause I was trained on them). Recently I did a musical with about 60 light channels, 80 dimmer channels and lots of scenes. For this I really liked command line programming, albeit it takes some getting used to and you really have to pay attention to your screen instead of just the board (with the screen as a helper). So currently I'm debating what I prefer myself... (probably have to get to play with the frog 2 sometime.. ). Anyways, the zero88/ FatFrog is and stays the most simple interface to especially the laymen. This week I had a relative inexperienced light technician at our theater, which also came in late. Within 5 minutes she was programming her scences, submasters and naming them. This was someone who had limited experience even to any DMX type board. Goes to show we did a great investment for a theater which has to educate complete laymen as part of regular use.
  2. Hi all, I was wondering how to supply 2 betapack 2's with 1 32A Ceeform. (Leaving 8 Amps per channel, which is enough in this case). I am hoping to do this without an expansive distro, but I may have to because of safety reasons. I have seen 32A Cee to 2x 16A Cee, but that would mean a 16A Cee would be supplied with 3x 32A, which IMHO isn't safe. Another way of doing this is to supply the betapack directly with the 32A Ceeform and hardwiring the 2nd betapack with a daisy chain from the first Betapack's supply rail. I know this means 1 fault in either of the packs would mean both packs would shutdown, but this is not a problem in this case. (at least 1 or 2 down would be an equal problem). Since Betapacks are often supplied with 32A Ceeform, I think this would not be a problem and all outputs are fused at 10A, so this wouldn't be a problem either. But maybe I'm missing something. Any suggestions/ comments?
  3. <bump> I came across this, while training myself on the phantom frog for our new Fat Frog. While searching on FR 5433 I could not find if this is implemented yet. I presume it isn't ? (I would like to see a line like this: "Fade down: <percentage> / <remaining time> | Fade up: <percentage> / <remaining time> | LTP Fade: <percentage> / <remaining time> | Dwell time: <percentage> / <remaining time>" In which "<percentage> / <remaining time>" can be repaced by n/a if applicable. I'm not sure in which screen it would belong, output (channels screen) or memories, but I would like probably both. It is something that could be maybe be chosen in the desk setup. (Set "Display live fade times" to "ouput", "memory" or "both". Of course, just like naming items, this would only apply to the connected monitor. This doesn't seem like a violation of Frog principles and to the layman at least, doesn't seem to involve a major rewrite of code. (but laymen ussually don't see problems, which are there... )

    USB

If we truly NEEDED it, we indeed wouldn't have ordered the FatFrog, but that doesn't mean, we would like it. (But hey, I would also like other stuff which I am not getting... Never hurts to ask around though does it ? )

    Topset

<bump> Also would love the topset.... Ahhh.. that gray desk.... sweet memorries, got mine 10 year ago, it had more then 6 faders... Oh wel teenage love... (When I learned lighting we just upgraded from a mobile 6 channel rig, to a fixed 18 channel grid with a sirius 24...)

    USB

It would be even beter as an retrofit. We just ordered a new FatFrog and we don't have any floppy disk's here anymore (on the aproxximatly 600 computers in the building (well maybe the servers have)). So we are getting a USB floppy drive for the audio/lighting booth computer, but it's far from ideal.
  7. also here, very much wanting a copy
  8. Well you for your quick info, it was really helpfull. With this info I "pushed" a zero88 desk into the (college) theatre. Maybe they found some money somewhere, which will get us 4x Coemar 250XL Wash + the Fat Frog, else it will be the Jester. I have used a sirius 24 for a couple of years, and love the relative ease of use (which I see in the (phantom)frog also). I will post when the final verdict is in. (It might be the Fat Frog anyway since they were truly impressed by the phantom frog, also in combination with educational training) UPDATE: Don't just love "CEO's"? Even before I came in friday everything was already ordered! So now we got the Fat Frog with the Coemar's... Stage should be ready in the beginning in May, I hope the Fat Frog will be avaible right away (the supplier normally doesn't supply Zero88 (which I thought was strange, since he is sort of speducked in schools/theatre's for which zero88 is ideal in my eyes). For zero88 marketing: Choice of zero88 was because: 1) Ease of use (a.o. to be able to use all channel preset to more complicated memorry's with or without fixtures) 2) Studiness 3) My familiarity with zero88 4) Phantom frog a) Training purpose for new operators/ students/ external users Programming for operators, whenever they have time, without going to the auditorium (or the auditorium being aviable) c) The "CEO's" were truly impressed by a "(phantom)frog demo" (oh look it got a kinds of buttons, which we already understand..
  9. Hi All, I'm currently looking into a new desk, and untill this afternoon the FatFrog was the desk of my choice. This afternoon the decision was made to drop the (firstly) planned moving heads, so the fixture control of the FatFrog is now longer needed. I am now doubting to get the Frog or the Jester 24/48. Except for the fact the Frog has a keyboard connection and more submaster pages I can't seem to find feature which justify the extra € 1000,- . The jester has a USB storage connection, which is a big plus (for the (college) theatre). What would be a reason to prever a Frog above a Jester? (I kinda need an answer quick, so if you know something, please respond)
