    9.8 problems

Now I must admit I was in a bit of a rush earlier and didnt get to fiddle about much, but I did seem to notice these problems with the new update: Firstly, the Return key on the keyboard can now be used as a remote Go. This worked fine, but if I moved to any other field (change fade time etc.) and then back to the number field, I could no longer use return to 'Go.' It seemed I needed to keep fiddling with the scroll lock key after changing fields, to get it to work again. Secondly, I tried to name some submasters, but found that I couldnt. I was in the 'Name' dialog, but the only keys that had any effect were spacebar and backspace, I couldnt type any letters. This wasn't the keyboard at fault, as I tried another one. Any ideas? sp
  2. Just thought, If you want to trigger both desks simultaneously, could u not wire up a very simple push-switch . This would plug into the Remote Go of the Alcora, and the Remote Switch socket of the Frog. Set this remote switch on the frog to 'Go' and then just hit the switch to cue both desks together. Yes/no? sp
  3. It's much much easier! Oh, and don't forget a keyboard, especially since the latest software update. sp
  4. "All I know is that when plugged on they the light comes on in different patterns and the head moves around in different directions..." - well that's one way to describe them I suppose. sp
  5. Just got my floppy ready with the new update to take in tomorrow. Having a read of the update details, it looks fantastic, especially the various additions to the keyboard interface. I'm very pleased about the 'Go' button addition - a wireless keyboard now becomes so much more useful! Can't wait to try out the new features - thanks guys  sp
  6. You're very lucky using 500s and 600s at your school. I can't even get a couple of scrollers. I'm very envious... sp
  7. As I've said before an enhanced lock function would be great. Well if you're just using the playback X and Go button you could go to a blank page of subs, turn the flash buttons off, and put the preset masters to zero. Oh, and ask your operators to be a bit more careful  sp
  8. No problem at all. I for one find searching the forums really time consuming, and very often fruitless - people use different terms for the same thing, spelling mistakes, confusing topic titles etc. sp
  9. This has been mentioned many a time, and basically, the answer is no. If you had a scene and you wanted a chase as well, you could create the chase, whilst having the scene on every step. This is, of course, just one chase, no more. The only thing I've ever thought of is putting in the memory's name field a little note to say, "Stick subs 2-4 up." - clearly not ideal as you want the desk to start and stop the chases itself with the scene. It's not possible to run two memories in the stack simultaneously. sp
  10. Yeah I'm pretty certain the Alcora has no DMX input, which is what you'd need to do as you suggest cherowbrier. sp
  11. How did it go, what did you do in the end? sp
  12. Take a look at the manual here. Page 82 shows the Frog's connections. Hope this helps, sp
  13. Hi The Fatfrog has no analogue din connectors, it provides one universe of DMX, via 5-pin XLR connection. If your dimmers have no DMX connection you'd need a demux to convert from DMX to an analogue signal. sp
  14. Went to download the manual for this desk on the Zero88 site, and found this So does a manual exist? sp
  15. Could you not just stick a note on that cue "Subs 6-10" and whack these up with the memory? sp
  16. A highly useful reference this one - how to say 'frog' in many different languages; click sp
  17. Surely it only takes a second to press copy, select a memory, and press enter? sp
  18. Are those links you're using actually to images, or webpages with images? There don't seem to be any file extensions on the links, .jpg .gif etc. sp
  19. What arrangement do you use with regards to the projection - a simple case of projector & powerpoint? sp
  20. Well that's not possible I'm afraid. You'll just have to do it step by step like I mentioned above. sp
  21. Firstly, the chase you have on the submaster must have been created on a memory first - that is the only way to create a chase. Right, so you want two generics flashing, while a few others stay on all the time? Let's forget the chase on the submaster altogether. Try this: 1. Raise the presets you want for the generics that will stay on throughout. These should be outputting. 2. Raise the presets for the first lantern/s you want on in the chase. These should be outputting as well. 3. Go to the memory where you want this stored, and clear anything already on it. 4. Lower the Playback X master. Hold the Chase type button until 'Chase' is lit. 5. Now press Program. 6. Lower the presets for the first lanterns in the chase, but keep the others raised that you want on all the time. 7. Raise the presets for the second lantern/s you want on in the chase 8. Press program 9. Now set all the chase options you want, drive etc. then select finish. 10. Lower all presets. 11. Raise the Playback X master, you should now have all the generics you want on, along with the others flashing. Basically, a memory can be a chase or a scene - not both. To give the appearance that both are on a single memory, you program the static scene into every step of the chase. When you program a memory, you are not giving it details of the chase sequence, just whatever is outputting as you hit the Program button. This memory can now be transferred onto a submaster. When the sub is raised, all the generics will stay on, along with the two that are flashing. Hope this makes sense, and is what you're after. sp
  22. I may have misunderstood you here, but are you saying you want a particular step of your chase programmed into a memory? If so, raise the chase's submaster, and press the Chase Drive Modifier until 'Manual' is lit. Then press the Step button until the step you want is output. Then go to the memories screen, select where you want the step included, and press program. If you want the scene that is already on the memory as well, output the memory on the Playback X, and put the Playback X master up. Hope this what you were after, sp
  23. (Looks like K-nine was writing his reply just as I was writing mine!) You could program a cue between the normal cues, which changes the gobos and colours with the brightness at zero. The next cue then brings the brightness back up. Using Dwell times and automatic triggering for the subsequent cue, you could press Go, the lights will go to black (or fade, if you set fade times), change their gobos, and then automatically come up. You will very likely need other lanterns to cover this changeover, so these will need to be included in the cue also - remember all HTP values are always recorded. - Whilst running a chase, press the Chase Drive Modifier Button until Manual is lit. You can then use the Step button to trigger the chase. Or, if you press the Chase Drive Modifier again, you can use beat mode (manual and bass lights lit). By tapping the Step button, you can set a beat for the chase. Hope this helps, sp
