Can the Frog 2 cut this?

Hi

 

I'm in a position at the moment where I'm putting together proposals for what we should run (lighting wise) at a large youth event that may take place at the National Indoor Arena (old home of the Gladiators TV show) in Birmingham. At present this is what I'm envisioning being on the set:

 

On truss:

 

10x Mac 250's

20x Mac 300's

5 x Max 2000's

 

20 x Par Cans

6 x profiles

 

On stage:

 

10 Mac 250's

10 Mac 300's

 

Also a further 15 or so par cans on stage

 

20 x LED banks (Pixeline battens)

 

Of course I don't know if I'll get the budget to hire this glorious stack of kit

 

However, what I need to know is

 

1: once a show is designed with all this stuff within a WYSIWYG evironment, will it be possible to transfer it to a FROG2 board,

 

and 2:

(if 1 is possible) would a frog 2 still be a good choice for this size of rig or would I be better off going for a something akin to a GrandMA board for the event?

 

Any advice would be much appreciated. Incidently if anyone could recommend any good WYSWYG software that'd be great!

I'd say that the scale of show you're proposing is almost ideal for a Frog2. 45 movers + 60 generics won't be a problem at all, although as always taking some time to set your desk up correctly will speed up programming and make your life easier.

 

With regards the WYSIWYG question, currently the Frog2 doesn't directly run any visualisation software, however all you require is a PC running some form of visuliser, and either an ARTnet or DMX input to the PC. The Frog2 outputs both, symultaneously.
