Lightmaster XL - program and flash function buttons don't work anymore

Overnight the program button and flash function button of my lightmaster xl console stop responding. Has anyone had this problem before? I don't know where to start looking.

My best guess is possibly contamination due to age of the carbon pad on the PCB.
