  1. Hi John

You can force this by modifying the fixture personality in the fixture tools:

First, set the 'default' value of the Shutter channel to the top of the dimming range.

Now tick 'Scale by Virtual Dimmer' on the Shutter channel

Create a "Dimmer" channel with a default value of 255 which is a 'Brightness' attribute and is set to Virtual Channel.

Now save the file and load it onto the desk.

When you fade the brightness up and down it will 'scale' the shutter channel accordingly.

Note that when you do this with anything other than 'open shutter' (reset/strobe/etc), the effects might be odd - you may find the strobe increases or decreases in speed as you bring the sub up.

    I hope this helps,

    Peter

  2. Hi Conn

When you start up Phantom Jester there is a Settings button which allows you to configure the Local Drive Path - this is the location the software will treat as it's USB stick. Set this to the location of your memory stick (normally E: ) and then run Phantom Jester like normal.

To save a show, hold down (by right clicking) on SHIFT and left click on MODE (this will put you in Super User / Setup, and then (after right clicking again to disable holding down SHIFT) use the menu and enter to select <Load / Save Show> and then <Save Show> and follow the prompts.

    I hope this helps,

    Peter

  3. Hi Csylten,

The reason you don't see the values change is because your fan rule is set to Fan First - in this mode, the 'first' fixture is a fixed point and therefore you don't see the fan from that point onwards.

I generally select fixtures individually when fanning and set their fan values as required, using simple maths - I know this falls down when you have a large number of fixtures, but for 3,4,5,6 fixtures it's pretty easy to do.

We don't yet have an auto-fan function but this is something we've been asked for a few times so i'll add it to our feature request list.

I hope this helps clear things up,

    Peter

  4. Hi AB Lighting,

The upgrade kit adds the following connectors to the console:

SMPTE (XLR3) - used for timecode

MIDI In (5 pin DIN) - used for timecode and notes control

MIDI Thru (5 pin DIN) - loop through for above

Remote (8 pin DIN) - used for contact closure triggers (GPI)

Line In (Jack) - not implemented

Line Out (Jack) - not implemented

    RS232 - not implemented

Chillinet / iCAN - not implemented

You can add the 4 Universe upgrade as well, but it is not included with this kit.

I hope this helps clear it up.

  5. Hi Piero

AES/EBU is an audio output signal, not a timecode reference. There is a way of embedding timecode in an AES/EBU output, which you could extract using an external box and then import into the desk using the XLR. But no, there isn't a direct support of AES/EBU inputs.

  6. Hi Carwyn

You need to LOAD the step into the program window - press LOAD, select the memory (or sub) and then select the step. Once you press OK you'll see that step and away you go. Make the changes and press UPDATE then OK and the chase will be updated.

    Hope this helps,

    Peter

  7. Hi Dave

If you drop me an email with the fixture details (a user manual is best) to peter.kirkup@cooperindustries.com then i'll do my best to get it added.

    Cheers,

    Peter

  8. Hi Vishesh

The Diablo Fixture Tools USB cable should be supported by Windows Vista - it uses a standard FTDI USB driver which is supported by many other devices. If you have any problems using the tools, please don't hesitate to let us know.

    Kind Regards,

    Peter

  9. Hi Dairmund

Loading Illusion show files into any of the Frog series consoles (or ZerOS consoles) isn't officially supported. You may find that certain data gets loaded, due to similiarities in their showfile format, but there is no official support for this feature and as such we can't guarantee that it will work. Your best bet would be to try it in Phantom and then look at some of the cues to see if they look okay - it might be a good starting point at least, to save you rebuilding the whole show file.

    I hope this helps,

  11. Hi SR_BL

Have you tried untagging the 'other' colour attributes when setting up each RGB fader... eg:

Set fixture to "Red" at 100% Intensity

Untag Green & Blue (hold CLEAR and move each wheel, or touch on the touchscreen for the attributes)

    Record (without smart tag)

    <UDF>

    Then try

    SETUP + <UDF>

    "UDF Controls..."

    "Colour"

    OK

Do this for each attribute and you should get the behaviour you're expecting.

    I hope this helps,

    Kind Regards,

    Peter

  12. Hi Aaron

The Range feature is really intended to be a basic 'cue stack' functionality - if you need the ability to manually override cues, to step backwards, etc, then both the Frog 2 and ORB desks will offer you this functionality.

    I hope this helps,

    Peter

  13. Hi Andy

Unfortunately not - the DMX sockets are not powered sockets - they carry the data to the dimmers. The approved way of lighting your Jester desk is via the use of a USB desk lamp - we hold these as stock items, but in all honesty you will be better off buying them directly - most computer accessories suppliers will be able to supply these.

I hope this helps clear things up,

    Kind Regards,

  14. Hi Will

Sorry for the delay in responding to this - I must have missed your post during the forum upgrade.

Please take a read of the ZerOS Networking Guide - this explains how to connect the desk for the various different ethernet systems. To answer your question, you can connect the desk to a wireless access point directly to create a mini network.

At no point should a ZerOS console be connected to the internet - there is no benefit to this, and it will cause confusion to the routers and expose your desk to potential attacks from malicious content. Although the desk is protected internally from these sorts of attacks, we would not advise connecting the desk to any network other than a dedicated lighting network.

I hope this clears things up - please let me know if you have any more questions,

    Kind Regards,

  15. Hi Stu

Are you running in tracking or non tracking mode? Is the effect running on fixtures or standard dimmers?

In Non-Tracking mode, the desk won't record any attributes which are associated with a fixture whose dimmer is at 0% - this is to prevent redundant moves and unnecessary programming.

    I hope this helps,

    Peter

  16. Hi Carwyn

This seems to be an oddity with the Zip file when extracted using Windows in built zip utility. If you rename the file (select it in Windows explorer and press F2) to remove the "space" character at the end of the filename, then you should be able to unzip it successfully.

We've fixed the filename now so this shouldn't recurr for any new downloads.

    I hope this helps,

    Peter

  17. Hi Carl and Bilderbuch

I would like to reassure you that our focus is very much on the ZerOS software as a whole, not just on the ORB. As with any new product, we have invested a significant quantity of time into making sure that the ORB meets and exceeds users expectations and as such the last couple of software releases for ZerOS have indeed focussed on adding functionality to the ORB. Please be reassured that wherever possible this functionality is also rolled out into the Leap Frog range - Leap Frogs have gained, as a result of the development of ORB, the ability to show gobo images, fixture images and the ORB colour scheme which offers much improved styling over the 'default' graphical display. Additionally we have rolled out a number of functionality and reliability improvements to the Leap Frog over the past few releases - many under the hood (such as completely revamping the way that fade times are stored). All of this development is intended to make the use of the console as pleasing for you as possible.

With regards this particular software function you are requesting, the reason it hasn't been implemented into the Leap Frogs is two fold - partially the work involved is far from trivial (as currently the user interface for recording palettes doesn't allow for any 'options' to be set at the time of record, so a whole new interface would have to be thought up) - and partially because the Leap Frog range is our entry level ZerOS console, there are always going to be functions which we have to leave out, in order to give people a reason to invest in the higher level consoles. Please rest assured that we have discussed this issue and will continue to do so, but also bear in mind that as a business we cannot invest infinite time in rolling down features from our top end consoles into those which sell for half of the money.

Now for the good news - We have another new software release launching for all ZerOS consoles in the next few weeks which will add significant new functionality to all consoles. Please watch this space - I think you'll be impressed!

As always, i'm happy to hear your feedback and welcome anything you would like to bring to us in terms of new ideas.

    Kind Regards,

    Peter

  18. Hi Jimbob

I'm glad to hear that version 5.3.5 has resolved the issues you were seeing on your ORB. It might be worth you taking the time to sign up for email alerts - here - so that you can always stay up to date with the latest software.

If there is anything else we can do to help, please don't hesitate to let us know.

    Kind Regards,

  19. Hi Stu

In the default (LTP) mode for the preset faders, moving the faders 'grabs' the value and puts it into the Program Window. Channels controlled by the program window remain controlled by the program window until you 'clear' the window out. Therefore, to get control from submasters or memories, you'll need to press CLEAR.

Alternatively, you can switch your preset faders into HTP mode by using SETUP / DESK SETUP /BEHAVIOUR / Preset Mix Mode. Once you've changed this setting you won't need to clear the program window to get control of the faders, however the faders will be *highest* takes precidence, so you won't be able to grab a level and lower it down. In HTP mode, all intensities for preset channels are stored into all memories and submasters.

I hope this helps to clear this up,

    Peter
