  1. Hi This again gets us into the whole thing of parameter level programming. I do like the concept of what you are proposing. In the new year once the next upgrade is out we will be looking at where we take Frog as a product. I will include this in the review.
  2. Hi Can you confirm which version of software you are running? I have not heard this one before, has anyone else had a similar problem?
  3. Oops. Thank you for spotting that one and we will change it as soon as possible!
  4. Hi Thank you for the support. If anyone translates the manual and is happy for us to post it on our web site and this forum I will be happy to reward the authors with some swag, a T-Shirt and a Swiss Army knife. Look forward to seeing them! Graham
  5. Hi Just to keep you all up to date there will be two adjustments possible for speed in the next software version, a global one that will allow you to change the speed of all the chases outputting at that time and a second one that can be used to alter specific chases. When altering specific chases you will also be able to change all the other attributes of the chase, direction, attack etc. Graham
  6. Hi At the moment chases and effects keep running in the back ground. As Ice says you have to create a kill memory to stop them. The next upgrade of software which should be out in January, providing our software boys haven't had too good a Christmas, will kill all chases when the submaster gets to Zero. Graham

    Beta Testers

Hi All If you want to be a beta tester register with K-Nine. You will get access to early versions of the next release and can give us your feedback. Always remember however that it is beta software and as a result may crash. Be careful if using in show critical environments. By the way have a good festive season!

    Next release

Kev You will be getting pretty much all of those in the new software which will be out in January. Full list CLICK HERE. I am afraid santa and his software elves let me down on a pre christmas delivery.... K-Nine will probably tell you it is not their fault. Graphics are not possible on the monitor. That precludes Cue Line. A bigger version may come out and give you this later. No promise. However in the spirit of harmony perhaps you would like to come to the home of the Frogs and spend a day with us and the RnD guys and we will take you through some of the things we are working on and where we see future product as going. Let me know if you are interested.
  9. Hi LXKev You and I are obviously never going to agree. If it was me moderating the forum your post would still be up by the way. I have broad shoulders! I have a very clear idea of what the Frog range is for and who the user base is. I did create it although a lot of people did the grunt work in programming it and getting the hardware to work. I know it is a good product, the sales and the regular praise we get for it show this. I have also been involved in lighting both as a tech and a designer to know that one desk will not answer the needs of all users. Therefor if someone has one of our products and is not happy with it I would rather see them trade it in on something that is more suited to their needs. Todate the only people I can remember saying this to are yourself and John. I know where we can and will take the console and if it is not right for you I would rather you changed platforms. If you don't like that as a business philosophy then I don't know what to offer you. As to not listening we do listen and many of the things now in the console come from comments on this forum. To say that we don't listen and that we are not putting one shots, beat control nor live speed edits in is untrue. Several times now I have said that the new software will have this. I think at this point I will leave it except to say again that I am sorry if my attitude offends you. Graham
  10. This has raised some ideas in the office. We will see how it is possible to implement.
  11. One shot or X shot chases are something we are looking at for the next version of software.
  12. Yes they are and at some point we may try and implement them. The can of worms however is immense. You have 20 color palettes. With a CYM fixture how many colors do you have...
  13. John Thank you for your offer of help. I am afraid that I can't see the point in this feature. I see where you are coming from but it is not going to be a thing high on a list of upgrades. There are many people asking for many things, we try to go with what the majority want.
  14. Yes it is getting serious consideration as it is a thing that can be done and also fits within the philosophy of the desk.
  15. John With out wanting to beat around the bush anymore you are obviously not happy with our console. Can I suggest that you contact ACT lighting who are our dealer in the US and arrange for a trade in on your desk. It is obviously the wrong product for you. I am sorry but we are never going to agree with a lot of the things that you are saying. We make a console that is aimed at doing very specific things. As you have a BS in Computing then you should know the costs of writing software. To simply add in features as you suggest to be a market leader is not the way we are structured. We do try and make a living and that means developing new products that we can sell for a profit not simply adding features forever to existing products to make them compete at a higher level. The goal posts in the industry move all the time, we develop product to meet these changes, we also upgrade product to keep it relevant if we can. We give these upgrades away so the payback on the work done is minimal. By developing new products we can stay in business and this allows us to support older products. What you are asking us to do with a basic level console is add features that no one else has. I make no excuses for what the console is nor where it is pitched. It is mean't to address the needs of a broad range of users most of whom are working with limited budgets. I also make no excuse for saying that we are not an MA or Hog level product. If those are the features people want then those are the products that answer their needs. We answer a set of needs for a group of users, we obviously do not meet your needs. I recommend you trade the desk in. As to the particular question you are asking with this post, yes it would be nice to have. We will look at it but it is not going to happen immediatly or perhaps ever. Best
  16. Hi John Thank you for the many posts suggesting new features. I will go through most of them but as a first statement of fact I would like to remind everyone that the desk is made and sold for a budget. That means that it has limited features. Some of the features that you are asking us to implement on this product are not found on desks that cost considerably more and are aimed at a much higher end user base. As to adding more fixtures... the desk has a fixed number of buttons. The Fat Frog is designed to run 12 movers. It is not really relevant if the processor can handle more or not. The spec of the desk is clear, 48 faders and 12 fixtures. We make other consoles with different specs. I hate to be pedantic but we are in business to make money, simply making the software adaptable so you can put 48 fixtures on a Fat Frog is not a good business decision. Secondly simply adding fixtures will never be enough. It quickly leads to requests for other features that will mean the range will no longer adhere to the philosophy behind it. As to selling software upgrades, this is always difficult. We have prided ourselves on giving away software. If we sell upgrades we run an aweful risk of having consoles in the market that are running different versions which can be confusing to Designers and operators running rental products. I do not favour this as a path. Finally there is a way to get more fixtures out of a Fat Frog it is not ideal but does work. Write a fixture, for instance a Trackspot, that is actually 2 units. You have to page through color and beam and position but it does work. You would also need to patch them properly.
  17. Hi Kev I was away for a little while. Some statements were made about individual parameters. The desk was never designed for this. I think you are being pedantic with your interpretation of the fact we say the desk is suitable for all users, it is. You could use it on a major concert tour, would you? No. Likewise if you had the budget you could use a GrandMa on a school production, would you, probably not. The desks do what theydo. We will continue to add features. We will not however try and make the desk into something that is going to be more than the hardware can cope with.

    Edit Blind

HI At the moment you can't. We don't have a blind edit mode. This will change with the next update of software. This should be available before the end of the year.
  19. If you would rather have a Pearl why did you get one of the Frog's? Most of your recent posts seem quiet negative about the desk. Would rather see you trade it in if it is yours and get a desk that you are happier with or am I missing something?
  20. You could of course record the chase steps as memories and then use the go button on the remote to step through these.
  21. Hi Kresten You are dead right with your points. The desk is not aimed at top end users. It is meant for people who have a budget and are doing shows with moving lights. It has many features to aid in the programming and operating of moving lights. For us it is nice that many people have bought the desk and that it is now being used by people who would in the past have had to buy a more expensive product. We have been successful in addressing this broad market and offering them a tool for an affordable price. Increasing the price significantly will I believe mean the product is not serving the market it was designed for.
  22. Do you have a chrystal ball....who says all Frog's will be dead before a new desk comes out...how do you know when we will have a new desk  Desks on funky gig's or simply a solid user base of over 3000...
  23. Still to complex and I am still not convinced. Yes there are benefits but it is still not going to happen. Sorry. Graham
  24. Hi I am afraid that we are not going to be able to help, sorry we have the manual in several languages just not the one that you need.
