  1. Argh - I accidentally pressed this key during a show yesterday :(

    It's so easy to say "don't press it" but I was adjusting my moving lights then somehow managed to hit the blackout button, leaving those on stage in darkness - thank goodness the followspots were on the ball :)

    The first time in a long while I've accidentally pressed the blackout button but a software switch to enable/disable the button would be advantageous to the console as well as to save my blushes :)

  2. Roy,

    From what I can see the M2 mode of the fixture profile has 10 DMX channels;

    Colour: Color1

    Beamshape: Shutter, Gobo1, G1 Rotate, Macro, FX Mac and FX Speed

    Position: Pan, Tilt, P/T Speed

    I predominantly use a Solution XL or Frog console so forgive me if this is something that you've already tried, but each aspect whether Colour, Beamshape or Position can have multiple "layers". This means that you press the attribute button, in this case Beamshape, more than once to view all the available options.

    Hope this is of use.

    Regards

    Mike

  3. Chaps,

    You may find it better if the home positions are set;

    Dimmer = 255 (Full Brightness)

    Pan = 128 (Halfway)

    Tilt = 128 (Halfway)

    Shutter = 4 (Open)

    as these will make the fixture start from a mid-position with lamp on when the "home" button is pressed.

    My only other comment is that the colour should be "Color Wheel" and not "Other Color" but not sure if it makes much difference?

    Regards

    Mike

  4. Hi there,

    Your fixture file looks Ok.

    Could you be trying to "Update Fixture file"? If so the console is expecting a Global Fixture file format. On the Solution XL, I "Load UFT" - User Fixture Type for custom fixtures that I've created - this may be similar for you?

    Regarding 5 pin and 3 pin connectivity, the answer is yes - both use pins 1, 2 and 3 with a straight mapping on pins. For 5 pin DMX, pins 4 and 5 were sometimes used for a second universe on other manufacturers equipment but I don't think this was ever established as a standard.

  5. Thank you for the link

    I can probably guess the settings but a copy or list of the DMX page would be useful;

    3 DMX = 1-R, 2-G and 3-B. A generic 3 channel RGB fixture could be used for this mode

    4 DMX = 1-R, 2-G, 3-B and 4-White. A generic 4 channel RGBW fixture could be used for this mode

    The 9 channel DMX is one I'm not so sure about so if you can reply with the details that would be good.

  6. Hi Jimmi

    Just to let you know that the following are included in the 25.3 beta release of the fixture library and should be available soon.

    Expression 3300 Zoom : 12 Channel Mode
    Expression 3300 Zoom : 15 Channel Mode
    Expression 5000 : 9 Channel Mode
    Expression 5000 : 12 Channel Mode

    Can you forward more details for the Spectral 260 as these, although not specifically defined, may be available as a generic fixture.

    Many thanks

    Mike

  7. TBH, I've more experience in moving lights but to provide my thoughts...

    In the fixture setup on the Solution desk it is possible to swap pan and/or tilt direction. It's also possible to swap pan/tilt control too - could this be a possibility?

    I've just looked at a manual - can you check all the fixtures are set the same, pan/tilt movement mode, DMX resolutions all set the same?

    Oops, prompt edit of post as having looked at the personality I see these don't have colour, etc.

    Regards

  8. I've added a new personality based on something Jon mentioned to me at Plasa this year.

    I have called it 12/3 Channel. This means that with the unit in 12 DMX channel mode you add each head as separate fixtures, each with 3 DMX channels. This allows each head to use the brightness wheel and also allows use of absolute or fan modes for movement by the desk. The downside is that the 12 channel DMX mode does not have strobe functionality.

  9. Hi there,

    Was thinking of raising this as a feature improvement but searched the forum and found this.

    Shame it's always active - we've never used the button and it was accidentally pressed during a show today and the chap operating the desk didn't realise what he'd done :(

    I know "don't press the key" is an obvious answer but we're not all perfect. It would be nice if this could be a switchable feature in the options settings... please :)

  10. R

    Not sure if I remember my DMX channels correct but I have created a fixture file.

    DMX 1 - R, DMX 2 - G, DMX 3 - B, DMX 4 - Fixed Colours, DMX 5 - Strobe and DMX 6 - Macro (Sound to Light?)

    When loaded, I believe you should see a virtual dimmer in the Beamshapes section.

    Let us know if you have any problems.

    I have a similar LED parcan and the RGB need to remain as Colours. This, as well as the virtual intensity should be what you need. I use my parcans on my old Alcora desk but will have a look at the generic fixtures in the latest global fixture template (gft) file and if I can't see one suitable, I'll try to create a fixture file for you tonight. You can then take a look to see how it's put together for future reference.

  12. PFA...

    Ok, the manual is a little confusing when it says;

    - DMX 2 Strobe, Shutter Closed and Slow to Fast - but Shutter should be open and static.

    - DMX 5 Gobo Rotate @ 128-191 picture shows Low Speed to Fast but text shows Fast to Slow

    - DMX 6 Prism @ 8-132 picture shows Low Speed to High Speed but text shows High to Low

    Let me know if I need to make adjustments :)

  13. Hi Terry,

    I can't attach the detailed DMX info from Miltec as it's too big but I have attached an IFT that I've compiled. The attached is for the newer desks as I've included a fixture image. Reply back if you need an IFT for the older floppy based Frog desks.

    I've created personalities for RGBW and RGBA fixtures - hope they're Ok.

  14. Hi there.

    I occasionally provide lighting to small events where a 12/24 or maybe a 24/48 console would be an appropriate physical size. I already have a Soulution XL for bigger events but would like a smaller console which has the functionality to turn the B preset into a submaster. DMX patching and being able to 'flash' these submasters would be a benefit too. It doesn't have to have ML capability but I guess looking forward, that functionality would probably be useful in the long term.

    Do zero88 have any current thoughts on this? Having searched the web, I know it is possible with another manufacturer but would like to stick with the quality of Zero88 kit.

    The reason I ask is that I'll have a couple of schools productions coming up and already have a variety show and a play in the diary - I could use such a console for each of these events :)

    Such a console would be popular with smaller venues, including village halls, community and small drama groups.

    Regards

    Mike

    Ahem - oops. I see the Jester can do the things I'm looking for... :)
