Worcester RGSTech Posted June 17 Report Posted June 17 If I record a cue running an effect in which movers are moving on a preset pattern, figure of 8 for example, does anyone know if there is a way of stopping them moving whilst blacked out in the next cue? I have tried multiple ways and the only successful method seems to be to record them in a position at a very low intensity when stopping the effect. I don't want them moving around whilst blacked out, especially as their subsequent cue will likely be in a static position as a special. I don't doubt that not so many months ago Edward or Jon would have been on with a solution. Alas we seem to have been hung out to dry these days. Quote
kgallen Posted June 17 Report Posted June 17 Hi @Worcester RGSTech This is a common gotcha on ZerOS consoles. I don’t know the exact syntax on Solution, sorry, but assuming you have a fairly recent ZerOS then you need to Update the cue with [No Effect] with SmartTag turned off. GO your "dancing and lit" cue then GO your blackout cue (where the movers are dark but dancing). Select the fixtures of interest [No Effect] [Update] Turn off SmartTag Tap the Playback button holding that cue Almost certainly the blackout cue was recorded with SmartTag on in which case it doesn’t record the [No Effect] instruction, just the fixtures going to intensity 0. This means your fixtures keep dancing when they are dark. Yep Jon and Edward are gone but there are user-folk on here who can still help you. 1 Quote
Worcester RGSTech Posted June 17 Author Report Posted June 17 Hi @kgallen Thank you, I'll give this a try. I'm running ZerOS 7.14.... the most recent version. I'm not sure that the Solution has SmartTag or whether it uses another name, but I imagine that it will be reasonably obvious. Thank you. Simon Quote
kgallen Posted June 17 Report Posted June 17 To clarify, for Update you need to get up the options box to turn off SmartTag. For FLX this is press and hold the Update key. Quote
kgallen Posted June 19 Report Posted June 19 ETA if my instructions are not clear, Edward documented the process in this paragraph (although again for FLX series). As he says, you might need to Track Forward, depending on where your cue is programmed/when you do the Update process: Quote When SmartTag is enabled, attribute data will not be stored for fixtures @ 0% when recording/updating. Effect information is attribute data, and so if you apply [No Effect] for fixtures that are currently @ 0%, you will need to disable SmartTag in order to ensure your No Effect instruction is included. If you wish to update a cue to stop the effect running on fixtures that are @ 0%, select the fixtures and tap [No Effect], tap UPDATE, and in the Update Options you'll need to ensure SmartTag is disabled, and Track Forwards is enabled. This will send your [No Effect] instruction down the cue stack, up until the next cue that includes effect information for these fixtures. If you just do a Cue Only update, the [No Effect] instruction will only be added to the cue you are updating, meaning the fixtures will resume running their effect in the very next cue. Quote
Worcester RGSTech Posted June 19 Author Report Posted June 19 @kgallen I tried following your instructions, but so far with no success. The Solution does not appear to show 'SmartTag' in the options box, just 'Clear Tagging' It seems to make no difference whether I click the 'Effects Pallete 1 No Effect' box. Cue Only should make no difference in that in the first instance I just want to stop the effect in 1 Cue. ( the desk is currently running in Cue Only mode although that may change)Does SmartTag only appear when using Tracking ? IMG_0550.HEIC Quote
kgallen Posted June 19 Report Posted June 19 @Worcester RGSTech can you upload your showfile then maybe one of us can have a play in Phantom. I’m not sure what the HEIC file you uploaded above is, my iPhone doesn’t recognise it. Quote
kgallen Posted June 19 Report Posted June 19 Just to check, did you run the cue first and then apply the recipe? Quote
Worcester RGSTech Posted 4 hours ago Author Report Posted 4 hours ago @kgallen So far, the one thing that does see to work is recording the movers blackout cue , and then create the effects cue to slot in front. If the movers are then in a subsequent cue, move on dark jumps in and they are preset ready for the next one. Without remaining dancing. Quote
kgallen Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Somehow you have to get a "No Effect" instruction in there otherwise even if your next movers cue is at a new position, they'll just start dancing around that new position. I'm not familiar with Solution but as it's a "modern" ZerOS console (i.e. post Frog2/LF94/ORB) I would expect it to have Smart Tag, assuming you're not in "Cue Only" mode. So I'm not clear why your Record and Update options boxes don't show a usable Smart Tag button. Quote
