FLX S48 Effects Speed Values

Hello there,

I have been using the FLX S48 for almost two years now.

The experience is very positive until now, and as I can see there have been some major improvements by the team.

I would like to address an "issue" I am facing, and ask if there's a practical solution to this, or we shall wait until the next update.

Whenever it comes into creating an effect, some times I need to "split" the effects direction throughout my selected fixtures in order to achieve a "mirrored" effect.

As I can see, this can be achieved by selecting let's say the first half of my fixtures and set a positive value of speed using my encoder wheel and then select the second half and enter a negative value (ex. 1st half at speed: 18 / 2nd half at speed: -18).

The main issue is that I rarely can get the same number in positive / negative values.

Most of the times I can get even positive numbers, but when it comes to the negative, I mostly get odd numbers.

Also, by moving the encoder wheel, the value jumps two by two values (18, 20, 22, 24 / -19, -21, -23, -25) and makes it hard hit the desired value.

I would love to know if there's a simple solution to this. Furthermore, I would suggest that in the future we 'll be able to enter the speed, size & offset value manually, using the virtual keypad, which currently happens when it comes to fade timing whenever I am editing a cuelist, if I tap on fade time. (keypad pops up)

I attach everything I mentioned above in pictures.

Looking forward for your answer.

Kind Regards,
Dimitri

Whenever it comes into creating an effect, some times I need to "split" the effects direction throughout my selected fixtures in order to achieve a "mirrored" effect.

For this, I would recommend taking a look at the "Fan V" offset setting. This allows you to achieve mirrored effects, such as intensity working out from the middle of a selection of lights. To configure Fan V, press and hold SETUP, and tap the Effect tab at the top of the touchscreen to open the Effect Settings. Then hold Z/SHIFT, and choose "Fan V" from the Wheel Mode options. Release Z/SHIFT, and press OK. You have now configured the shifted effect encoder function to be fan V. Now, if you select the fixtures, you can apply the effect you need. Then tap "No Offset" at the top, to allow you to create your own custom offset rather than an automatic one. Then hold Z/SHIFT, and dial the offset encoder. As you continue to dial the wheel, you will see the fixtures start to "chase" one another, in or out from the centre point. When you have achieved an offset you like, tap RECORD, and store the effect as your own custom effect palette.

To adjust the sensitivity of the encoder wheels, again hold SETUP and tap Effect to open the Effect Settings, and in the window that opens is an option to adjust the Wheel sensitivity.

Many thanks for the suggestion. I will make a note of this.

I hope this helps, if you have any questions please let me know.

Hi Dimitri,

I have an issue you may be able to help me with please.  I posted on it yesterday but some of your post here helps.

I see in one of your images that the top of the S48 window you have an effects tab which brings in speed, size, offset and rotation encoder parameters.

I am using S48 Phantom and my tabs only show over to Pan/Tilt Grid i.e. no Effects tab.

Can you help on how to get this to show please....??
