  1. I have it on a tablet so I can use the hyperlinks.
  2. Thanks Edward, I would not have found Add As Additional, but it works as described and will be a practical feature for future shows. What I was looking for is a discovery feature where RigSync can show what channels the fixture is using for what function, before the patching is done. It may not be practical as the Regal Theatre does not have RDM enabled to prevent their fixtures being readdressed, RDM has to be manually patched to the lighting bars.
  3. I was not sure of a suitable heading, but here is the story. I did a Dance Festival on Sunday, two shows in one day, 22 items in first show and 24 items in second show. Sorting out music track submissions onto a thumbdrive in correct playing order took a lot of time and left me short of lighting prep time. The show was at the Regal Theatre in Subiaco, western Australia, where they use an etc Gio desk with several hundred fixture numbers, including 120 dimmer channels, that I wanted to fit onto 96 channel faders. I created a multicell fixture for two TourPro ZOOM PAR JNR in 8 channel mode, so I could control two high side lights on one fader, which worked well. I also created a multicell fixture file for three Ovation 915FC fresnels in 14 channel modes so I could control them on one fader. There are three Ovation 915FC on each of the four LX bars, used as top light, so I thought this would be an easy way of creating down stage chase effects, using four faders. Unfortunately this fixture file was not successful as I used the 14ch chart in Rev.8 manual which is very different to Rev10 manual. Is it possible to use Rigsync (RDM) on a FLXS48 to view the dmx channels of a fixture to see what they are ? It would have been nice to have my multicell fixture profile verified but I cannot see it being feasible as the fixture file name I used was 915FCx3, so it would not allow for a match to be found in the ZerOS library. The Ovation 915FC 14ch fixture in the current library is the same as the regal fixtures ! When we patched three Ovation 915FC to use as individual channel faders, we saw the different dmx channels and as I had 12 channel faders available, we were able to make of the stage chases. The multicell fixture is a useful desk feature and worked well for the TourPro ZOOM PAR JNR and Event Lighting Pixelbar12X12 LED Bars, I paired them also. I was reducing the fader count on my FLXS48 by making 3 and 6 channel multicel dimmer fixtures, but some of the dimmer channels I wanted to pair up were 2 channels apart, so were not consecutive. Is it feasible to patch multiple dmx channels under one fader ? This is done on a few conventional desks I have from Jands and LSC. Ovation_F-915FC_UM_Rev8.pdf Ovation_F-915FC_DMX_Chart_Rev5.pdf
  4. I asked Edward about using a custom fixture to control multiple dimmer channels with one channel fader. This is Edwards reply to my email However, you may find it easiest to use a multicell fixture for this. There are several multi-intensity multicell fixtures already in the ZerOS Library. The Filtering in Add Fixtures can be used to find one that’s suitable. For example, tap SETUP -> Add Fixtures -> Add Filter. I have then added a filter to show all 24-channel fixtures, where each channel is an intensity parameter… could not embed picture As can be seen, 2 fixtures meet this criteria. Please see the link below for more information on filtering… https://www.zero88.com/manuals/zeros/patching/add-fixtures/searching-filtering#filtering Once you have added a filter, click OK, and then choose a fixture to patch. Once patched, it can then be renamed in the Fixture Schedule if required. You could also even export the fixture with a custom name if required. Please see the link below for more information… https://www.zero88.com/manuals/zeros/patching/add-fixtures/edit-export I will be trying this out in the venue tomorrow morning. Using multicell fixtures saves channel faders, allows you to treat the dimmer rack as a group but still allows individual access to each dimmer when required. I will be busking a dance festival with 60 items in one day so I will have to prerecord everything into playbacks and groups, as there is no time to plot on the day.
  5. Very useful thank you Edward.
  6. Thank you Edward, it certainly does help. I tried searching for this but did not find a direct answer, so I have a word document to keep track of these useful snippets.
  7. Can you determine what channel mode a fixture is patched at ? It is easy to determine if there are several patched by looking at the Address in Fixture Schedule, but it is not obvious if it is the last fixture, unless I patch something after it to see the Addresses.
  8. As a test can you load ZerOS 7.11 into your desk and see if the touch screen is working again ? I use a Dell P2418HT 24 inch touch screen monitor with my FLX S48. The five point touch did not work on the external monitor with ZerOS 7.12, 7.13 but works with the Beta 7.14. I was able to use single point touch on the external monitor and the monitor calibration worked for each version of Zeros with my Dell P2418HT monitor.
  9. Or even Recording a show file as we don't really work at code level.
  10. Is it possible to find out what version ZerOS was used when recoding a show file on a FLX S desk please ?
  11. There is no mention of USB Thumbdrive limitations in the software release notes. There is a mention in this recent FLX forum post https://www.zero88.com/forum/topic/7320-usb-memory-sticks-compatible-with-flx/
  12. I have used the eDMX4 Configuration utility to set my eDMX4 PRO IP Address to 192.168.0.1, Subnet Mask to 255.255.0.0, which is my FLXS48 settings, Default Gateway to 192.168.0.1 , then connected the eDMX4 PRO to my FLXS48 network port. In Setup > Universes > IP Address I have set Static IP Address. I have patched a device to universes 1, 2, 3 and 4 in Art-Net 4 settings, but I do not have any data to my eDMX4 PRO yet and none of the four port led's are lit. Any suggestions on what step I have missed out please ? eDMX4 PRO User Manual (EN).pdf
  13. I am using a zoom wash LED mover to light actors walking along an aisle for entrances and exits in a music hall. The home position of the mover is at the foyer end of the aisle and it has been rigged so positive tilt moves it along the aisle towards the stage steps. Using times movements is not working so I need manual control of tilt. How do I put tilt onto a playback fader to allow manual position to light the actor? I need two faders, one to move the light towards the stage steps for entrances, and one to move the mover towards the foyer exits? Thanks for your suggestions.
  14. I find the FLXS24 needs an external monitor for easier use, this forum article may help Monitor for Flx 24 . It is for the FLXS24. I use a laptop with a cross connect cable. You can use a monitor with a mouse and keyboard connected to the FLXS24 USB port.
  15. There are training videos on the Zero88 Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/zero88 , some cover FLX and FLXS. I have attached a quick guide I wrote for year 10 production students that covers most used items when they are starting to use a FLXS24. FLXS24 SHOW GUIDE.pdf
  16. Then put a label on the fixtures. identifying the model number and dmx channel version.
  17. We have installed 5 of these Dell P2418HT 24" touch screen monitors with FLXS48 but just out of you price range in UK, Might find a better price locally. We are waiting for them to come back into stock, might be August this year.
  18. Barndoors are very useful for any backlight Ovation F 3.25" Barndoor , rotate the barndoor so the wide flap is at the top. Although the other 3 flaps are not used, it helps stop most of the audience being distracted with the light source.
  19. It is more reliable to run non RDM fixtures from the XLR3 socket on the FLXS48 if you are only using one universe as the DMX receive timing of some equipment cannot handle RDM. Jon Hole mentioned in a post on 24 November 2017
  20. We have been using the Dell P2418HT touch screen monitor with the FLXS48 but there is no stock available in Australia for at least a few months. Is there an alternative? I have tried my HP Pavilion 23tm and the touch screen does not work, plus an acer that did not work.
  21. I have found that occasionally when I take a USB drive from my FLXS24 and put it into the PC to update files, windows has to repair the USB drive. I have not noticed a cause yet as it does not happen very often.
  22. Are your fixtures set to retain current state if loss of DMX occurs ? I have had desks lock up on occasions, I unplug the DMX out cable, restart the desk, go back to the current cue, plug in the DMX cable and the patrons are not aware of the lockup. Does not work at venues where loss of DMX results in a blackout !
  23. What addresses are the fixtures set to ? There is a topic that recommends patching fixtures above DMX250 if there is timing issues.
  24. To get a list or printout of the channels of a fixture file I have been viewing the file in the fixture editor then I use the Microsoft Snipping Tool to save it so it can be printed out.
  25. DMX512 is a serial protocol that has to be connected in a daisy chain, so as kgallen says you go from the 5 pin or 3 pin output of your FLXS24 to the first light dmx in, then from the dmx out connect a cable to the next lights dmx in etc. When you first use the FLXS24 it will have RigSync enabled , which is Zero88's name for Remote Device Management. Rigsync will search for any fixtures that have RDM capability, the COLORado Batten Q15 has RDM so the FLXS24 should be able to automatically patch the fixtures onto channel faders. Zero88 RDM RDM and DMX video. RigSync does not always work, I have Huayinlight HY-P186S 6in1 led par's that have non compliant RDM so it does not work with them. Your COLORado Batten Q15 is a pixel batten, that is you can control each of the 15 LED's individually if the lighting controller can support pixel control, but the ZerOS operating system will not be able to until the next version. The common work around for this is to patch in 15 separate fixtures. I do not see the COLORado Batten Q15 in the current library so you would have to request a fixture file be made up for the Batten Q15. In the Batten Q15 manual, there is a Mode chart on page 19. If you set the Batten Q15 to 1 Simple (4 Channels) RGBW you can patch the Batten Q15 as Generic LED-RGBW to get it working.
